I can be whoever I want

Jolanta Markowicz- Graduate of Polish philology at the University of Wrocław, journalist. During 20 years of work in newspapers like Wieczór Wrocławia, Gazeta Wyborcza, Panorama Dolnośląska and many other nationwide newspapers and magazines she specialised in intervention and investigation reportage. She was press secretary in Nowa Gazeta Trzebnicka and later editor-in-chief in local weekly “Nasze sprawy”. In 2003 she moved to the countryside where she started using her experience in journalism in Art. She studied drawing and painting in Wrocław school of drawing under the guidance of such skilled teachers as Karolina Kosecka, Michał Kosecki or promising young painter Paweł Sobolewski. In 2015 she became a student of Academy of art and design in Wrocław under the eye of professor Leszek Mickoś who for many years was the dean of Painting, Graphic Arts and Sculpture department and from 1999 to 2005 Painting and Sculpture department.

Jolanta in her artistic work often refers to experience gained during journalistic work, travelling, and scuba diving. She also captures the beauty of nature that she can observe living in Trzebnickie Hills far from dense urban areas. When asked for her life motto she answers:

“A man can be whoever he wants, no matter his age. Motivation and hard work is all it takes and I can prove it”
